Why Elinor Ostrom Matters
Do you know who Elinor Ostrom is? If you don’t you should. She just won the Nobel Prize in Economics for showing that it is perfectly possible for the commons to be managed sucessfully without being owned.
From the article:
Garrett Hardin called his famous 1968 essay on shared resources “The Tragedy of the Commons.” He argued that a shared village grazing pasture would tend to get overused and eventually destroyed. But even Hardin later acknowledged that shared common resources did not inevitably have to end in destruction, saying that he should have called his essay “The Tragedy of the Unmanaged Commons.”

I’m a git no more how bazaar
I give up on git completely and wish all who use it luck.
git has too much attitude. I was having too many issues trying to work in a windows environment and publish to linux servers. (I hardly think I’m in the minority trying to do that). After many months of trying – I really TRIED to love you – I have switched to bazaar (bzr) because its windows agnostic and friendly. No more line ending wars. Phew and hooray.
I just don’t git it

Filtering Out My Company’s IP Block from Google Analytics
I noticed that my Google Analytics goals were being skewed by all my internal users testing the conversion process. I needed to filter out the entire range of IPs used by my company
I started by finding finding my own external IP:
http://www.ipaddresslocation.org/
and then I found the block of IP’s used by my company:
http://ipinfo.info/html/ip_checker.php/
Now I could filter out that traffic from my Analytics report with a custom filter:
